Tenth Java User Group Meeting: Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Usual meeting location is The Service Station coffee house on 9315 N. Nevada, Spokane, WA. (that is in North Spokane on Nevada between Magnesium and Hawthorne)

If you haven't already, be sure to join the email list for announcements and discussions. Just send a blank email to: list-subscribe@spokanejug.com Then wait for the email verification response to reply to (be sure to check your spam filters/folders to make sure you receive it). Then you will be able to post to everyone on the list by simply sending an email to: list@spokanejug.com. This list will also be used to send reminders and notifications about upcoming meetings and events.

Additional features of this website include a live real time IRC (Internet Relay Chat) service, web based forums, email discussion and announcement lists, code snippet repositories and more.

You can use the "Java Jive" link in the left hand navigation to access the web-based Java applet client to join the chatroom, or you can point your install IRC(Internet Relay Chat) client to: server: irc.spokane2600.org room: #javajive

Meetings are currently scheduled for the 4th Saturday of each month from 4-7 pm. Come when you can. Some show up right around 4, others closer to 5 or even 6. You're welcome whenever you can make it.

The next Spokane Java User Group meeting is scheduled for Saturday, January 31st, 2009, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the usual location (The Service Station Coffee House in North Spokane). If no one else can make it to this meeting due to the holidays or the weather, please post on the email list and we will try to schedule on the following week or so.

We will be covering the very beginning basics of writing Java code using either a text editor and (compiling/executing via the command line), and/or an IDE such as Netbeans. We will start out with a simple, classic "Hello World!", and then add pieces of concepts and functionality.
